Thalgo Comfort Softness Exfoliator

Thalgo_Softness_Exfoliator_50ml_50It's official, I am in love with this creamy dreamy exfoliator. The jojoba oil micro-beads are so tiny that it barely feels like my face is being exfoliated while I use it but lo and behold once I rinse it off my face feels fantastically smooth and not dry at all.

Keturah Spa, Fremantle WA

The old saying that looks can be deceiving came to mind when I stepped through the doors of Keturah Fremantle. Although I was aware that it is a multi award winning spa and highly recommended the exterior took me by surprise, situated opposite the town square the spa looked fairly small. However as soon as I entered the decadent reception area I guessed I was in for something special.
My therapist led me through to the changing room area complete with lockers, robes and slippers which I hadn’t expected to be asked to avail of given that I was only there for a Keturah Signature Facial but to my delight I was asked to change from my every day clothes. I love this ritual of placing my clothes in the locker and slipping on a fluffy white robe and comfy spa slippers. It instantly calms me and helps me forget the outside world and focus on beginning my treatment. There was only one lockable changing space in the room which wasn’t a problem until I came to change back again after my treatment and it was in use which meant a little wait until the other Spa Seeker had finish but this was only a minor issue in an otherwise faultlessly beautiful changing room.
The style of the whole spa is very glamorous and opulent with dark colours, sensual fabrics and very low lighting. Almost a little too low until my eyes adjusted! My treatment room was quite large but very minimalist with only a bed covered in dark blankets and a couple of very discreet cupboards in view. I loved that there was no equipment visible or products on show, these were all hidden away until I was warm and cosy on the treatment bed with an eye mask on. This maintained the serene feeling that had come over me when I was changing into my robe and kept my mind focused on relaxing.
The therapist had completed my consultation in the lounge area prior to taking me to the changing room so there was no need for this to be discussed in the treatment room, instead she was able to quietly explain to me what treatment plan she had in mind for the facial before  disappearing quietly from the room to gather her creams and masks. The form that I had filled in on arrival had given me three choices for the level of conversation (silence, informative and conversational). I had picked informative as while I want to be left to my own thoughts in peace I still like to know what product is going to be spread on my face!
After cleansing my skin and removing my eye makeup the therapist used a light exfoliator and a steamer which is excellent for rehydrating dry skin. I haven’t had this treatment during a facial before and was pleasantly surprised at how relaxing it was. I’m not ashamed to say that I lost track of the Pevonia Botanica masks, creams and potions that were applied to my skin during the treatment as I was concentrating on not snoring while I fought sleep! Suffice to say that the foot and leg massage accompanied by the scalp massage which occupied me while the face masks were hard at work certainly did their job and it was nice to have some soft vocal music in the background as a change to the standard spa music.
My hour was up all too soon and as I drifted back into the lounge area and was presented with a cup of herbal tea it was lovely to have the opportunity to have a conversation with the therapist while I came back to earth. Amongst other things we had a good chat about why my current skincare routine hasn’t been giving me the results that I would like and how I can attempt to maintain my skin in its best condition. Although there was no hard product sell I will admit to leaving with a travel sized pack of the Pevonia Botanica Dry Skin Line products ($106) but at no point did I feel that I had been forced into the purchase and even at the reception desk when I was paying I felt I could have changed my mind without any pressure.
The Keturah Signature Facial  left my skin feeling softer and cleaner than it has in a long time and this feeling remains a week later, with the continued use of the Pevonia products.
All in all this was a fantastic spa experience and one I would highly recommend if you are looking for a day spa in Fremantle. Keturah has several other day spas at locations across Perth .

Waterlily Refining Hibiscus Serum

The ingredients of this light serum are like a morning walk in nature’s paradise. White mulberry, lemon rind, hibiscus flower, vine leaf, Italian neroli blossom, Brazilian rosewood and Moroccan rose. What a mix and the results are as divine as you may expect. Waterlily prides itself on being  an authentic Australian Spa Collection with only the purest of natural botanical ingredients and this serum is a very good showcase of this philosophy.
I used the Waterlily serum at night time as prescribed and my skin had a feeling of vitality after application. The interesting stand out of this serum is that it also fits into the exfoliation category with the fruit acids in the ingredient mix. It did seem to deliver the radiant results an exfoliant promises which I have not experienced in a serum before.
I thoroughly enjoyed using this serum under my usual moisturiser and I was impressed with the results, especially enjoying the light texture.

Waterlily Palmarosa and Geranium Cleanser

Pineapple, lemon and green tea make up the deep cleaning properties of this Waterlily Cleanser, which sounded light and lush to me so I was keen to trial this as part of my daily routine. Upon first greeting of the white creamy cleanser from the bottle the rose geranium aroma stood out. An instantly decadent and exotic nose pleaser.
Using the cleanser twice a day for the next two months my skin felt incredibly clean and supple. The biggest test for any cleanser for me is how sufficiently it removes make up and this product certainly succeeded in that department. At night my eyelashes felt soft and feathery after use and ready for a nights sleep. I noticed that by morning when I applied again there was no mascara or eye make up residue that the previous night had failed to remove.
Lasting a couple of months the Waterlily cleanser proved durable, I just didn’t need to use a huge amount to clean my skin. Overall I could see this product taking a permanent place on the my spa guide top cleanser choice list and also part of my personal skin care routine.
